Meet Richard Smreker
A lifelong Missourian with the experience and commitment to serve District 101
I'm a lifelong Missourian who grew up in South St. Louis County and later in Hillsboro—and for the past 20 years, I've been proud to call West St. Louis County home. Today, Chesterfield is where my family and I have built our lives.
After earning three degrees from the University of Missouri–Columbia—including a law degree and a master's in broadcast journalism—I began my career with the Missouri House of Representatives. Over the course of 10 years as a Senior Legislative Analyst, I drafted legislation, staffed committees, and gained a firsthand understanding of how laws are made—and unmade—under both Democratic and Republican leadership.
I then went on to manage the Missouri Film Office, where I developed the nation's first film production tax credit program. Afterward, I returned to St. Louis to practice personal injury law.
But the most important decision I ever made was stepping away from my career to raise my four children. I'm a proud Parkway dad, and those years at home shaped how I see everything—because when you're raising a family, policy isn't abstract. It's about real classrooms, safe neighborhoods, accessible healthcare, and whether your elected leaders are truly present and accountable.

A Representative Who Shows Up
Chesterfield doesn't need more political noise. It needs someone focused on results. I'm a Democrat, but what I am more than anything is a pragmatist. I spent ten years as a legislative analyst for the Missouri House of Representatives, drafting bills and working with legislators on both sides of the aisle.
I've seen what effective representation looks like, and I've seen what it doesn't look like. I know the difference between someone who is in Jefferson City to serve their constituents and someone who is there for other reasons entirely. Chesterfield deserves a representative who will show up, do the work, and put this district first.
